We are reaching out to let you know that Device Insurance is available to purchase until February 4th for all MISD students between 2nd-12th grade. I strongly suggest that you take this opportunity to purchase insurance to protect yourself from paying the full cost of the device if it is broken, lost, or stolen. Please keep in mind that parents/guardians are responsible for the reasonable cost to repair or replace a device that has been broken, lost, or stolen. As of today, our 2nd-grade students have received district-issued Chromebooks. Please see more information in the attachment below on how to purchase insurance.

Second-grade students received their new Chromebooks during school today. Third and Fourth-grade students have received devices previously but may still purchase insurance. Our 2nd-grade students will not be able to bring their devices home until spring break. We want them to have an opportunity to learn how to care for them and use them at school before we allow them to come home overnight. All second-grade devices and chargers were labeled with their student names and the label after the device was checked out its identification number (asset number). Second-grade students will be bringing home a small handout packet detailing how to care for the device and with information on how to sign up for insurance. Please speak with your student about taking care of these devices. The new second-grade Dell Chromebooks do not completely flip open in tablet mode like the older third and fourth-grade Chromebooks. They only open like a traditional laptop computer.
